Reset Windows 10/ Windows 8 Password using a bootable Windows USB. If you forgot your Windows password and you don’t remember it, then try to grab a Windows 10 or Windows 8 bootable USB or DVD and follow this step-by-step tutorial on how to reset Windows 10 / Windows 8 password.

  • Go to Windows boot menu by pressing F12 (TOSHIBA, ACER, DELL) and F9 (HP).
  • Select your bootable device from the boot menu list (my case USB in pic below).
  • Press Enter.

  • Power on your computer without connecting any bootable device.

  • In User Accounts you can reset your password, you can also remove your old password completely.

  • Type your “New password”.
  • Re-Type same password to “Confirm new password”.

Hide Hard Disk Drive in any Windows. This is a simple trick in Windows to hide your local disk, if you have some important data or documents and you don’t want that someone else change or see it you can hide or disappear your hard drive partition.

  • Open your Run dialog box by simply pressing Windows key + R in Windows 8, Windows 7, and Windows 10. OR in Windows 7 click on start menu and type Run in search.
  • In Run dialog box type “gpedit.msc”.
  • Click on “OK”.

Convert Microsoft Office Files to PDF in Windows. This is very common yet very useful tip, if you are using Microsoft Office 2010 or Office 2013.

Converting Word, Excel, or PowerPoint files to PDF actually don’t need any third party software, Microsoft Office does that job for you for free in any Windows.

I have a Microsoft Word file as you can see in picture below and I want to covert that file to PDF in Microsoft Office 2010. Please note that this option is not for Office 2007.

Reset Windows 7 Forgotten Password, If you forgot your Windows 7 administrator password and you want to access to your really important data then this tutorial is for you. Forgetting account password is very common and you don’t need to panic, there are many ways to reset your forgotten password for Windows, the one I will show you guys is using a bootable Windows 7 USB and try to access to system32 files. So lets get started.

  • Shut down your computer.
  • Plug in your Windows 7 bootable USB.
  • Go to Boot Menu by pressing f12 key (Lenovo laptop).
  • Select USB in Boot Menu list hit enter key (You can also use Windows 7 DVD).

  • Windows installation process begins click on “Next”.

  • In System Recovery Options select “Restore your computer using a system image that you create earlier”.
  • Click on “Next”.

  • Again click on “Cancel”.

  • In System Recovery Options select “Command Prompt”.

Type the follwing command in CMD.

  • C: (press enter key).
  • CD WINDOWS (press enter key).
  • CD SYSTEM32 (press enter key).
  • REN SETHC.EXE SETHC.EXE.BAK (press enter key).
  • COPY CMD.EXE SETHC.EXE (press enter key).
  • Now Close Command Prompt Windows by simply clicking on cross sign on top right side.

  • Click on “Restart”.

  • Windows 7 login screen will appear after restart.
  • Next press SHIFT KEY in your keyboard five (5) times.
  • CMD Windows will appear.

  • Type the following command in your CMD.
  • NET USER USERNAME NEWPASSWORD. e.g. net user “Apple Store” 12345
  • Hit Enter key
  • You will see a message “The command completed successfully”.

Please also note that instead of “username” you have to right your login account name like mine is “Apple Store”. If you don’t have space in your login account name then do not use double quotes around your username. Password is your new password, it could be anything you want like I use” 12345”.

  • Close Command Prompt Menu.
  • Type your new password e.g. my password is 12345.
  • Hit Enter key.
To change or reset password type net user username password in CMD.

  • My admin account is now accessible and my data is safe.

Audio driver installed but no sound is a very common fault in Windows computer, If you are facing no audio/no sound problem in your computer then follow this post and it might help you fix this fault.

Check installed sound driver

To diagnose no sound fault in your computer the first thing you need to check is driver for sound, whether its installed or not. To check sound driver follow steps below.

  • Right click on “Computer” in Windows 7/8, if you are using Windows 10 you can right click on “This PC”.
  • Go to “Properties” from the drop down menu.

  • Select “Device Manager” in System Windows.

  • Now in Device Manager drivers list check if you have “Sound, video and game controllers” category. If you do have this category in Device Manager then you already have sound driver installed. In-case you don’t have “Sound, video and game controllers” then you need to install driver for sound card.
  • Audio driver is already installed but no sound then go to next step.
  • If sound driver is not installed then you can install sound driver from your computer driver support website.
  • Having issues on how and where to find your computer driver, then click this link and our team members will guide you.

Now that you know that your sound driver is already installed but still don’t have sound, it’s time to delete sound driver from Device Manager.

  • Double click “Sound, video and game controllers”.
  • Right click the name of Audio Device and click on “Uninstall” from the drop down menu, If you have more than one Audio Devices uninstall all of them.

  • To Confirm Device Uninstall click on “OK”.

  • Now click on “Scan for hardware changes” icon as shown in picture below.

Restart your computer and check if you have sound now, If you do have sound then Congrats, If you don’t have sound go to next step.

Connect your working headphones or hands-free

Audio driver is installed but still no sound then we need to take troubleshooting further.

  • Connect your headphones to your computer audio jack port and check if you have sound in your headphone, If you do have sound in headphone then you probably have bad speakers in your computer and you need to replace them.
  • If still no sound in headphones then go to next step.

Uninstall audio driver from Uninstall Programs.

Many times we install wrong audio or sound driver in our computer and the only solution to fix a sound issue is to delete that audio driver.

  • Go to “Control Panel” > “Uninstall Programs”.
  • From the list of drivers check if you have any program or driver installed related to sound or audio, If you do have please remove that program by uninstalling it.
  • Restart computer after uninstalling program.

Show hidden files in Windows 10 and Windows 7. If you are using Windows 8 or 8.1 you can still follow this post. By default, our system files and folders e.g. AppData, temporary files etc are hidden. You can also hide your files or folders from properties of required file or folder.

  • Click and open “This PC” in Windows 10 desktop.

  • Now click on “View” tab.
  • Check the “Hidden items” box.

  • Go to “Computer” in Windows 7.
