Customize Desktop Icons in Windows. A newly installed Windows doesn’t have icons on desktop e.g. This PC, My Computer, Recycle Bin, Network etc. But you have options to customize them in Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10. Desktop Icons Setting Windows 10
To customize desktop icons setting in Windows 10.
- Go to “Settings” > “Personalization” > “Themes” > “Desktop Icons Settings”.
- OR “Right click” on desktop, a pop up menu appears click on “Personalize”.

- Click on “Themes” on left side of menu.

- Scroll down right side menu and select “Desktop icon settings”.

- In Desktop icon settings you can choose from the list of desktop icons e.g. Computer, Recycle Bin, User’s Files, Control Panel, Network.
- Check mark from the list of icons you want on your desktop.
- Click “OK”.

Customize Desktop Icons in Windows 8
In Windows 8 if your desktop icons are missing go to
- “Control Panel” > “Appearance and Personalization” > “Personalization” > “Change Desktop icons”.
- OR you can just “Right click” on desktop and select “Personalize”.

- Click on “Change Desktop icons”.

- Checkbox any of “Desktop icons” you want on your desktop.
- Click on “OK”.

Desktop Icon in Windows 7
- In Windows 7 go to “Control Panel” > “Personalization” > “Change Desktop icons”. OR “Right click” on desktop from the menu click on “Personalize”.

- On left menu click on “Change desktop icons”.

- Select from “Desktop Icons” you want to show on your desktop.
- Click “OK”.
